cinnamon (Cinnamomum verum aka Cinnamomum zeylanicum)
- True cinnamon is obtained from a small evergreen tree of the Lauraceae family. The tree is native to Sri Lanka.
- Cinnamon spice is obtained from the bark of this tree.
- The bark from other related trees is also used to make spice. This is sometimes sold as cinnamon too. It is less potent.
