sapodilla (Manilkara zapota)
- Sapodilla is a long-lived, evergreen tree native to the New World tropics.
- The fruit is a plumb sized berry that looks like a smooth-skinned potato. Inside, its flesh ranges from a pale yellow to an earthy brown colour. It tastes sweet and delicious. Avoid the hard black seeds.
- In the UK you can buy sapodilla from the Asian shops. They are displayed as Chikoo.
