  • Courgettes are also known as zucchini.
  • The courgette is a basically a type of summer squash.
  • Anybody with an allotment will be familiar with that summer peak, if they are doing well, then they produce so much, and for a few weeks everybody is trying to exchange them or give them away!
  • Courgettes and marrows are notorious for cross-pollinating with any other summer squash in the area, to produce something unexpected and probably bland. So do pollinate them by hand if you are trying to keep them true to variety.
  • The flowers of the courgette are good to eat and make a colourful addition to a salad.
