Manual juicers

For juicing wheatgrass etc

  • These are single auger masticating juicers.
  • The z-star shown is a single auger juicer and is suitable for wheatgrass. However, it has now become very expensive and is simply not worth it compared to others on the market.
  • They generally have some kind of clamp to attach them to a worktop.
  • They can usually be used for juicing wheatgrass but do check first.
  • Obviously they are slower than an electrical machine.
  • The juice quality is normally very good.
  • They are light and easy to transport. Great for going on holiday so you don't miss your green drinks!
  • The key point to watch for is that they are solid enough to do what you want.

Lever operated juice extractors

  • When I was on holiday in Turkey, I came across a little juice stand. You could get fresh pomegranate juice, made in moments, and it was the lever arm juicer that was being used.
  • For juicing pomegranates, grapefruits, oranges or lemons this is a simple eco solution.

Manual Nut and Seed Oil Press

  • For pressing nuts and seeds you need something quite solid.
  • I came across the model shown in the video clip. It's made in Holland but the website is in the US. There is an electric version as well as an off-grid version.

  • You can press raw sesame seeds, flaxseed, pumpkin seeds, hulled sunflower seeds, hemp seeds, chia seeds, rapeseed, safflower, almonds, pecans, walnuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pistachio nuts, pine nuts, filberts, peanuts, Brazil nuts, acorns, cocoa beans, dehydrated olives, coconut, soybeans, and many more. The extrator can press almost all oil containing seeds and nuts with at least 25% oil in the seed
